Thor's objective in Avengers: Infinity War is to get Stormbreaker in Nidavellir, but he couldn't even properly say the name of the location.
In Avengers: Infinity War, Thor (Chris Hemsworth) twice mispronounces the name of a key location. Picking up after the events of Thor: Ragnarok, the Joe and Anthony Russo-directed blockbuster officially introduces fans to Thanos (Josh Brolin) after teasing the Mad Titan's arrival for years. To immediately establish just how powerful the villain is, Avengers: Infinity War opens with him killing half of the God of Thunder's people including Loki (Tom Hiddleston) and Heimdall (Idris Elba). Throughout the remainder of the film, Thor is focused on defeating him, and it all depends on getting his hands on a new weapon - Stormbreaker.
For the most part, Avengers: Infinity War keeps the original Avengers separated, particularly its main three heroes. Captain America (Chris Evans) remained on Earth, Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) traveled to Titan, while Thor made his way to Nidavellir. One of the Nine Realms, Nidavellir is the home of the legendary blacksmith Eitri (Peter Dinklage); he created Mjölnir, as well as Thanos' Infinity Gauntlet as the villain held Eitri's people hostage. With his hammer destroyed by Hela (Cate Blanchett) in Thor: Ragnarok, Thor is convinced that he couldn't properly face the Mad Titan without another powerful weapon, so instead of immediately seeking the purple alien, Thor teams up with Rocket (voiced by Bradley Cooper) and Teenage Groot (voiced by Vin Diesel) to seek the dwarf king in the hopes that he'll be able to create the battle-ax that could defeat Thanos.
As Thor explains all of this to the Guardians of the Galaxy, who saved him from the Asgardian ship's rubble, the God of Thunder says, "Nivadellir," though the location is properly pronounced "Nidavellir." What makes this worse is that he didn't just do this once, but twice while explaining the importance of getting Stormbreaker before he faced Thanos. Even after Rocket said the location correctly, as he's amused by the information that the legendary planet is real, the God of Thunder still pronounces it incorrectly. In fact, it's only after he and his newest allies get to the vicinity of the neutron star that he finally says, "Nidavellir."
